Heat-free in Ostprignitz-Ruppin: Schools react to summer heat!

Kyritz, Deutschland - in Brandenburg there is a heat alarm this week and the students in Ostprignitz-Ruppin have to prepare for shortened lessons. On July 1 and 2, 2025, the thermometer partly exceeds the 37-degree mark, which moved the school management to adapt the lessons. The Carl-Diercke secondary school in Kyritz ended its lessons on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Furthermore, the lessons on Wednesday could even end at 11:30 a.m., the temperature should remain so high, reports Maz .

The situation is not only tense at the Carl-Diercke secondary school. At the Jahn-Gymnasium in Kyritz, it is decided whether the lessons will be shortened, with the normal 90-minute blocks reduced to 60 minutes, depending on the situation on Tuesday morning. In the meantime, the teachers at the Prinz-von-Homburg school in Neustadt have the plan to decide on daily: elementary school students could be released after the fourth hour and the pupils of secondary level I after the fifth hour.

schools make daily decisions

Interestingly, the Astrid Lindgren primary school in Wusterhausen has not yet been made for a decision that is elusive by Monday evening. The Goethe primary school in Kyritz also makes its decision during the day. In Wittstock, the Diesterweg primary school shortens the lessons when the room temperatures exceed 25 degrees, which means that the first three hours remain normal, while the last three hours only have to last for 30 minutes.

The Wilhelm Gentz primary school in Neuruppin has also already stipulated that the lessons end at 25 degrees, but care is ensured to the end of the regular lesson. A consultation with the parents is important here, especially for the younger students. The Evangelical School in Neuruppin plans to offer lessons shortened from the 5th hour; Parents have the opportunity to pick up their children earlier in high heat, which is particularly important for the smaller ones.

heat -free and its regulations

The concept of "heat -free" is not regulated in Germany in Germany. The responsibility is largely with the schools itself. According to Stuttgarter Nachrichten Typical conditions, such as outside temperatures by 25 to 27 degrees in the morning, under which the lessons can be shortened or even suspended. In Brandenburg, heat -free is possible from an outside temperature of 25 degrees at 10 a.m.

At this point it should be mentioned that the regulations in the other federal states are very different. There are no fixed guidelines in some federal states, while in other schools there are flexible decisions to react to the respective situation on site. In particular, the care of children must be taken into account, since younger students can only be released in coordination with the parents, the regulations make it clear, as we can read at School Ministry NRW

For many students it will be hot next week - and not just temperature technology. A sports festival at the Rosa-Luxemburg School in Neuruppin for July 2, because the heat is also listed here as the reason.
