With the upcoming Christmas season, Potsdam is once again experiencing a very special highlight: the “Blue Shine of Lights” Christmas market. From Monday, November 25th, 2025, the city center will be filled with festive atmosphere and delicious smells. At the same time, the question is how residents can make the most of parking options during these busy weekends.

There is good news for all those who have a resident parking permit: parking spaces are available on the city administration campus on all four Advent weekends. Entry is via Hegelallee and use is possible on Fridays from 3 p.m. to Sundays at 9 p.m., as Potsdam.de reports. However, it is important that the campus is vacated by Sunday evening. The road traffic regulations remain valid during this time.

Special regulations for residents

In order to make it easier to find a parking space, the previously separate resident parking areas 100, 130 and 150 will be combined. Holders of one of these permits are allowed to park in any of these areas. This regulation applies from November 17, 2025 to January 2, 2026, the official end of the Christmas market. In addition, residents in Babelsberg with parking permits 510 and 520 can benefit from a similar regulation during the Bohemian Christmas Market, which takes place from November 27th to December 8th, 2025. But residents should also be aware that things could get tight in the city center on these weekends - parking spaces are limited and therefore very popular.
