Art comes to life in the heart of Kleinmachnow: The artist group “diejury” is ushering in an exciting phase with its exhibition “LEERSSTELLEN”, which will be on display in the farm workers’ house until November 16th. The official opening will take place on October 12th, with a special address by the painter and graphic artist Rainer Ehrt, who is known for his innovations in artistic creation. Anyone interested in contemporary art should not miss this event.

The group, consisting of the talented artists Maria Gibert, Maren Goldenbaum-Henkel, Brigitta Höppner, Heilwig Jacob and Silke Rath, has launched a project that has been exploring the void as a concept since 2022. What exactly does this blank space mean? It symbolizes what is missing in the system, the blind spots, unfilled positions and the spaces full of possibilities that are often overlooked in our society. These themes are clearly reflected in the artists' individual works and take a critical look at social and spatial contexts.

Artful blank space

As part of the exhibition, various works are presented, including escape suitcases with empty pages, empty word nets, emptied books and images that deal with the theme of “empty consumption”. The works of art move between the family environment, superficial perception and the beautiful appearance, which are an integral part of our contemporary society. The artists create spaces that allow the visible and the invisible to flow together, thus highlighting the gaps that are often overlooked.

The exhibition is open on weekends from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and entry is free - a wonderful opportunity to explore the artists' exciting approaches and explore the thoughts behind their work. This initiative invites everyone interested in art to take a closer look at the empty spaces in the system, think about them together and be inspired.

Cultural commitment in the region

Parallel to the exciting art happenings in Kleinmachnow, the Pirckheimer Society shows that book culture is also alive. Till Schröder, deputy chairman of the society, reported on the high number of visitors to the stand. Despite the three-year distanced break from the Leipzig Book Fair, interest in beautiful books remains unbroken. The “Marginalia” and other publications met with great interest, especially among the younger generation. Many copies found new owners after the fair, which shows that the love of reading is strong in the region.

As part of the “Leipzig Reads” reading festival, the Brandenburg Book Children presented their book “The Colors of Childhood,” which deals with the childhoods of writers during National Socialism. The events were well attended and stimulated intensive discussions about literature and history. The Pirckheimer Society plans to be represented at the Leipzig Book Fair again next year, which is a reason for all book lovers to look forward to.

It is therefore clear that both the art scene and the literary landscape in Brandenburg are lively and diverse. Whether you are interested in the profound themes of art or enthusiastic about the world of books - there is something for everyone to discover here.

A visit to the farm workers' house or to one of the Pirckheimer Society's stands is definitely worth it!
