Heino is planning a concert in Bad Belzig: Solidarity with the firefighter!
An exciting evening is coming: The popular folk musician Heino has announced an additional concert in Bad Belzig. OnMarch 28, 2026he will perform in the Albert Baur multi-purpose hall as part of his “Made in Germany” tour. With this event he is supporting firefighter Richard Münder, who has recently been criticized for the national anthem. In particular, the circumstances that led to Münder being relieved of his functions in the German Fire Brigade Association are causing controversy.
The incident occurred at the beginning of August 2023 during the German Fire Brigade Championships in Torgau, where the first verse of the Deutschlandlied was accidentally played - instead of the official third verse. Heino, whose version of the song with all three verses has been in circulation since 1978, thinks the punishment against mouths is excessive. He demanded via rbb24 a second chance for the firefighter.
A scandal with consequences
The German Fire Brigade Association saw Münder as the main person responsible for the “constructed scandal” and permanently excluded him from all offices. According to Heino and his management, the incident was a misunderstanding and he received a lot of support from firefighters for his support. It was a heartbreaking moment because Münder himself said he felt he was being treated “very unfairly” and explained that the problem was due to an organizational deficit.
On this special evening, Heino will not only sing the German national anthem - but only the third verse. The Brandenburg anthem “Märkische Heide” is also on the program. Heino's manager, who described the incident as a "contrived scandal", criticized the German Fire Brigade Association and emphasized how important it was to recognize Münder's voluntary work. Jens-Uwe Werner, community leader of the Wiesenburg/Mark volunteer fire department, also made it clear that Münder was no longer an active member at the time of the incident.
