New hospice in Zeuthen: construction plans and employee search started!

Something is happening in Zeuthen! The project for a new hospice is taking shape and has already found broad support in the community. The draft development plan was approved by a large majority of community representatives maz online reported. The documents can now be viewed in the town hall until August 11th. The site on which the hospice will be built is located at Fontaneallee 27, north of the former Luisen residence, and will soon be cleared.

Mayor Philipp Martens, who is particularly positive about the project, hopes that the municipal representatives will approve the implementation agreement on October 7th. Karl Uwe Fuchs, managing director of the Land Union Group, and Swantje Karsten, project manager of the Hospiz Frischer Aufwind support association, are behind the project and are committed to its development.

Planned infrastructure for better care

The hospice will be designed as a single-story building with 12 places, supplemented by a three-story residential building that offers 28 apartments. This project is intended to help close the gap in palliative care in southeast Brandenburg. Martens is optimistic that all open issues regarding infrastructure compensation will be resolved promptly, as the municipality would like to receive a sum for this compensation.

The original intention was to hand over a piece of forest and build social housing, but the plans have changed. The path area between the hospice and a residential complex should remain accessible to the public without becoming municipal property. The financing of the hospice is expected to be 95% covered by health insurance companies, while the remaining costs will be covered by donations.

Personnel search started successfully

Parallel to the planning phase, the club began looking for personnel. Like the Hospice Frischer Aufwind team on their website hospice-freshening-wind reports that around 15 full-time nursing staff will be needed to ensure high-quality care for patients in the future. This is an important step in being able to offer comprehensive care in a timely manner when the hospice opens next year, probably in the fall.

The planning is in full swing and everyone involved is optimistic that the “Zeuthen gets a hospice” project can be successfully implemented. It remains exciting to see how the whole thing develops and when the first patients can move into the new hospice.
