Schönefeld rocks CITY CYCLING: 63,838 kilometers for the climate!

CITY CYCLING in the municipality of Schönefeld has written a true chapter of success! After three exciting weeks of cycling, the participation balance has now been announced. And the result is impressive: 408 cyclists grabbed their bikes to collect environmentally friendly kilometers for a good cause. This means the number of participants is 57 more than last year!

A total of an impressive 63,838 kilometers were covered, which corresponds to an increase of more than 2,500 kilometers compared to the previous year. The community was able to do this third place in the district, behind the much-celebrated communities of Zeuthen and Königs Wusterhausen. A remarkable result that shows how committed the residents of Schönefeld are when it comes to environmentally friendly mobility!

Team spirit and achievements

The teams were actively involved, with a total of 31 teams collecting kilometers together in 3,376 rides. The FBB team shone with the best team performance: a total of 12,418 kilometers were cycled together. The success story continues with the cycling group SV Schönefeld Freizeitsport, which clocked up 11,298 km and thus achieved the second best performance. Closely followed by the “Always strive” group from the Großziethen school, which left the Bombardier Aviation team behind.

Mayor Christian Hentschel warmly thanked all participants for their great commitment. CITY CYCLING is not just a competition, but a symbol of the importance of cycling culture in the community. That too Federal Environment Agency highlights the importance of such initiatives in making people aware of the benefits of cycling. Not just from a sporting perspective, but also as an environmentally conscious alternative in our everyday lives.

The coming days are crucial because participants have until July 19th to add their kilometers. Then the final evaluation of the results will take place.
