Night bus accident at BER airport: driver uninjured in the ditch!

An accident that occurred this morning is causing excitement in the region. A Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) night bus left the road near BER Airport around 4 a.m. and drove into a ditch. Fortunately, there were no injuries apart from the bus driver, who was alone on board. The N7 bus was traveling on Jürgen-Schumann-Allee between the BER terminals and the municipality of Schönefeld when the accident happened. The property damage amounts to around 10,000 euros, and investigations into the exact cause of the accident are already underway. This information was first reported by B.Z..

However, accidents involving public buses are not the exception. Just recently, a similar incident occurred in another part of Berlin. An accident occurred on Otto-Suhr-Allee in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district on Friday afternoon, injuring eleven people. An unknown driver had forced himself in front of a bus without signaling, whereupon the driver had to brake sharply to avoid a collision. This sudden braking caused many passengers to fall. Among the injured were seven women and one man, the age group ranged from 17 to 80 years. Some received first aid at the scene of the accident or in hospitals. The escapee who caused the accident has not yet been caught. This incident was documented by n-tv.

Keep an eye on the traffic safety situation

These accidents are part of a larger road safety problem in the region. The Statistik Berlin-Brandenburg regularly publishes figures on traffic accidents in order to assess the safety situation and derive necessary measures for legislation, road construction and traffic education. The monthly reports help to identify structures and dependencies between accident factors. Even though most accidents are reported to the police, it is often only the more serious ones that attract the public's attention.

Recent events once again illustrate how important it is to improve behavior in traffic. Both bus drivers and car drivers must have a good hand in order to avoid such accidents and ensure the safety of all road users. Despite all the hectic pace of everyday life, we should not forget that carelessness can have fatal consequences.
