HIKING HERO: The big hiking marathon in Bernau starts!
On June 28, 2025, Bernau near Berlin will be the venue for the popular “HIKING HERO” hiking marathon. This event quickly crept into the hearts of hiking enthusiasts and is once again organized by SCC EVENTS GmbH in cooperation with the city of Bernau. With just 246 days until the event, participants can register now and prepare for an unforgettable experience.
The marathon takes place over a picturesque route of 44 kilometers through the Barnimer Feldmark. The start and finish are in the heart of Bernau, where participants are welcomed at the historic town hall. On the way, hikers can expect two main aid stations and three smaller refreshment points. Particularly noteworthy is the supply point at kilometer 26.5 in Werneuchen, which features a DJ and delicious crepes - hiking becomes a party here!
A festival for hiking enthusiasts
The “HIKING HERO” is not just a competition, but rather a communal experience. The idea is to emphasize the communal spirit of hiking without placing the pressure of competition at the forefront. The first event in September 2023 attracted over 1,000 participants. Due to its great success, the hiking marathon is now established as a permanent fixture in the Bernau event calendar Barnim Current reported.
The route takes participants through the charming surroundings of Bernau, past Tempelfelde, Schönfeld, Werneuchen, Löhme and Börnicke. The participants not only experience a sporting challenge, but also the beauty of the nature around Bernau. The connection to the city ensures that international hiking enthusiasts can also take part without any problems.
An unforgettable experience
The organizers want to set an example with this event – for community, health and the joy of hiking. With a starting signal at 7:30 a.m. in the city park, the participants will be sent out in four running groups on the route, which will run until 8 a.m. A large reception in the center of Bernau at the historic town hall rounds off the event. Everyone who successfully completes the 44 kilometers will be rewarded with a medal and a finisher certificate. Among the offers there is also the possibility of late registration until June 9th, so that anyone who spontaneously can still take part.
