Nina Schrader from Eberswalde receives the coveted GLG scholarship!
Shortly before Christmas, Nina Schrader from Eberswalde had a reason to be happy: she was honored as a new scholarship holder from the GLG Society for Life and Health. The scholarship award ceremony took place at the GLG headquarters and draws on a tradition that has existed since 2006. It is pleasing that around 70 young talents from the region were supported and most of them continue to work in the GLG network. The scholarship is aimed at medical students from the region who want to work for the region. Barnim Aktuell reports on this inspiring ceremony.
Nina, who at the age of 19 has just started studying medicine at the TU Dresden, is clear in her decision: Choosing a career as a doctor was a conscious and free decision. The family history also speaks for itself. Her parents work in the healthcare sector - her mother is a nurse and her father is a chief physician. In order to gain an initial insight into everyday medical life, she completed a voluntary social year at the GLG Werner Forßmann Clinic.
Duties and perspectives
However, the scholarship also comes with obligations: the scholarship holders are obliged to work in a hospital of the GLG group for at least three years after completing their medical studies. Nina is aware that the exact area of work after her studies is still open, but GLG personnel planning will endeavor to reconcile her wishes with the needs of the company.
Financial support should not be neglected: scholarship holders receive up to 500 euros per month during their medical studies, a form of help that is particularly popular these days. To do this, students must submit evidence of their progress in their studies and are invited to take part in annual meetings where they can get to know the company better.
The second in the league
There was another happy event with the second new scholarship holder, Miriam Schönenbröcher from Angermünde. Although she cannot be present at the scholarship award ceremony, she is starting her studies at the prestigious Charité and is training to become an emergency paramedic, which will certainly offer her valuable experience.
The GLG scholarship is an important initiative that strengthens medical education in the Brandenburg region. The GLG company includes not only hospitals, but also day clinics, doctor's practices, rehabilitation facilities, nursing care and many other areas of the healthcare system. With over 3,600 employees, GLG is the largest healthcare company and employer in northeast Brandenburg. The support of this venture for young doctors shows how sustainably health care is being promoted in the region in order to meet the challenges of young doctors.
Interested parties can apply for the scholarship, which is awarded annually, and all medical students from the region can benefit from this support. In general, scholarship holders need a clear plan for their future, as there are obligations after completing their medical studies. An example of this is the possibility of applying for a scholarship from the state government of Brandenburg, which provides 1,000 euros per month and is also tied to certain obligations, such as several years of medical work in rural areas. GLG Career offers more detailed information on this.
If you would like to find out more about scholarship opportunities and how to apply, there are various contacts available, including Ms. Göpfert from the State Medical Program, who will be happy to provide information. Supporting medical students is a step in the right direction to ensure medical care in the rural regions of Brandenburg.
