Bernau shines in festive splendor: events and traffic information!
A bright Tuesday lies ahead for the residents of Bernau! With partly cloudy skies and temperatures rising to 26 degrees, the day offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. How Bernau LIVE reports, people from Bern can look forward to a pleasant summer day.
But while the weather invites you to enjoy the day, there are also some traffic advisories that should be observed. There will be no traffic stops at Wollankstrasse station until 2027, forcing passengers to change trains. In addition, dismantling work from the 32nd Hussite Festival in the city center will hinder the road situation until midweek. Approximately 80 concrete traffic barriers will need to be removed, which may cause some disruption.
Events in June
There is always something going on in Bernau! On June 19th there will be a reading with Annika Scheffel in the Fabula family bookstore in Panketal - a real insider tip for literature lovers. Shortly afterwards, on June 20th and 21st, the summer festival for the 10th anniversary of the Finow e.V. district association can be attended. The Rüdnitz fire department will also be 100 years old on June 21st and is celebrating this anniversary with a festive program.
The Panketal stroll mile, which takes place on June 21st, as well as the open studio day in the former Biesenthal police school also ensure a colorful hustle and bustle. And for nature lovers there is camping at Midsummer in the Schorfheide wildlife park. The celebrations don't end here: there will also be a summer evening in Holland Park on June 21st, complete with entertainment and fireworks!
The Hussite Festival
A highlight of the month was certainly the Hussite festival that took place in Bernau last weekend. From Friday to Sunday, June 13th to 15th, around 20,000 visitors flocked to the city park to celebrate the festival. In addition to an impressive parade on Saturday, there was also a wide program of fairs, tournaments, juggling, music and dancing, which perfectly rounded off the festive atmosphere. An event that has been a tradition since 1992 and can now be experienced in its 32nd edition. The S-Bahn (S 2) was the best way to get there, with a journey time of only 35 minutes to Berlin; Cars and bicycles were also welcome means of transport.
Now the preparations for next year's field are in full swing, a look at the infrastructure and the events in the city clearly show: Bernau is lively and full of possibilities!
But it's not just events that shape the cityscape; work is also being done on the transport infrastructure. This particularly affects Schönower Straße, which is expected to remain closed until July 4th, which could affect car and pedestrian traffic. Be sure to allow enough time when visiting the city.
