Schleife, Deutschland - The municipality of Lieskau can be happy: a new bike path is being built that creates a secure connection after loop. This is particularly important because Lieskau, as the farest part of Spremberg, is about 3–4 kilometers from loop. Siege itself is a small oasis that has infrastructure such as schools, medical practices and gastronomy, which are of great importance for the Lieskauer. But so far the accessibility has been restricted. The previously used local connecting road does not offer a safety strip for pedestrians and cyclists, which has a great deal of security on this way to school. The accident potential was therefore certainly given in view of the daily student movements.

Thanks to a joint project between the city of Spremberg and the municipality of Schleife, this gravity is now being remedied. The new cycle path begins at the village community center in Lieskau and winds up to the school complex in loop, where it finally flows into the Lieskauer Weg. This is not only a profit for students; Adults also get a safe way to achieve the amenities of the neighboring community without a car.

The connection to the popular cycle paths such as the Fürst-Pückler cycle path, the geology tour and the frog cycle path makes the area particularly attractive for cyclists. This could have positive effects on local tourism.

nature and environmental protection in focus

When planning the cycle path, nature conservation was also considered. Measures were taken to maintain an existing row of trees and the bike path will lead past it. This shows that environmentally conscious action and the expansion of the wheel infrastructure can go hand in hand - an approach that is more important than ever in times of climate change.

The construction is planned for 2025, and the city council decided to plan and implement the preferred variant in April.
