District Administrator Siegurd Heinze withdraws - new wind in Oberspreewald!
What is happening in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district? The district administrator Siegurd Heinze recently made an important decision: he will not face re -election in 2026. He announced this during a district meeting on June 26th in Klettwitz. After almost 36 years in local politics, over 16 years as a district administrator, an era comes to an end. His term of office ends on May 8, 2026, and until then he would like to fulfill his tasks committed and reliably, as he emphasizes.
Heinze, who previously worked for 8 years as mayor of Schipkau and also 8 years as the official director, has made a clear sign. Heinze's withdrawal is in the context of the upcoming district elections, where six district councilors are pending in the coming year. These concern the districts of Uckermark, Barnim, Ostprignitz-Ruppin, Spree-Neiße, Elbe-Elster and of course Oberspreewald-Lausitz. Further information keeps osl-online.de Ready.
Farewell to the leadership in the leadership
With the announced non-Ritli Klug, the 1st deputy, the district is separated from two primal policies of local politics. Kleug also withdraws in the district administration after 44 years and 16 years as a deputy. She has her last working day on June 30, 2026. Like Heinze, she also has no ambitions for another election campaign.
The decision of the two experienced politicians does not come without backgrounds. It is now known that the responsibility for the election process lies at the district council and the Ministry of the Interior, while the voters ultimately decide on the new officials. In order to ensure smooth voting preparation, Heinze emphasizes the urgency to inform both the district council and the public at an early stage.
legal basis for the transitional regulation
The legal framework for the continuation of the office is clearly regulated in Brandenburg. According to the Regulatory Act, a district administrator or a district administrator can continue the office up to one day before the term of the new elected, the maximum duration is six months. However, Heinz and Klug said that they will not apply for such a continuation and thus retire at the end of their term.
These changes bring a breath of fresh air to the municipal landscape of the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz and certainly also new challenges. The question of who is succeeding is already hotly discussed. Voters can look forward to an exciting election campaign next year.
