This morning, June 16, 2025, a dramatic fire occurred in a single-family home in Tröbitz, which belongs to the Elsterland district. The fire department was alerted around 7:45 a.m. On site it became apparent that thick clouds of smoke were billowing from the house and the situation was immediately serious. According to the initial assessment, the emergency services managed to rescue one person from the flames. Another alarming fire broke out on Saturday evening on Juri-Gagarin-Strasse in Cottbus in the Ströbitz district. At 11:30 p.m., residents reported heavy smoke coming from the basement of an apartment building. The emergency services, who were supported by both the professional fire brigade and the Ströbitz and Sielow volunteer fire brigades as well as civil protection, were able to quickly initiate the evacuation. A total of 41 people were medically assessed and some even received treatment.

As with the fire in Tröbitz, the circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire remain unclear. Forensic scientists are on site to clarify the situation. After fighting the fire, the fire department ensured that all apartments were checked and the building was ventilated.
