It is a very special moment for FC Energie Cottbus, because preparations for the new season begin next Sunday, June 20th, 2025. The association can look forward to an extraordinary anniversary: On January 31, 2026, Energie Cottbus will be 60 years old. Then there will not only be festive celebrations, but also a return to the traditional club logo from 1966. The motto “Back to the real coat of arms” is intended to strengthen the connection to the club's history and inspire the fans.
The decision to use the traditional logo is particularly well received in the current season. The club would like to appear in its original form for a year, without any compromises or modernizations. A look into the club's history
FC Energie Cottbus, originally founded in 1963 as SC Cottbus, has written a remarkable history since its renaming to BSG Energie Cottbus in 1966. Since the name was changed to FC Energie Cottbus in 1990, things have always been up and down. Possible highlights were promotion to the Bundesliga and participation in the DFB Cup finals. Even though they were relegated to the 3rd league in 2014, the team is now back on the road to success and is in 4th place in the 3rd league table this season.
