Arson attacks on caravans: Police investigate in Hoppegarten!

On the night of June 21, 2025, shortly after midnight, the Hoppegarten volunteer fire department and the police were alerted to a burning trailer in Bollensdorfer Weg. The trailer had burst into flames and was completely burned out, making it almost impossible to recognize it as such. However, the fire brigade reacted quickly and was able to prevent the flames from spreading to the adjacent green area, as moz.de reports. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in this incident.

The police immediately launched an investigation into suspected arson. Traces were secured at the crime scene and are now being evaluated. The investigators are in the process of examining possible connections with other nighttime incidents, as there was also a fire in another trailer in the region not far away on the same evening.

Arson in Marzahn and Hellersdorf

Two caravans were also set on fire in the Marzahn and Hellersdorf districts on the same night. At around 10 p.m., a passer-by noticed a fire on Prötzeler Ring and informed the fire department. Here too, the fire was extinguished, but the caravan was almost completely destroyed. At around 11:50 p.m., the fire fighters were put on alert again when witnesses discovered flames on a trailer in a large parking lot on Alte Hellersdorfer Straße. A man seen nearby fled the moment witnesses approached him, suggesting possible arson, as berlin.de notes.

These incidents are now particularly exciting for the investigators from the fire commissioner of the State Criminal Police Office as they are checking whether there is a connection between the crimes. Fortunately, there were no injuries in either case.

Fire in Pankow

Another similar event recently took place in Pankow, where a trailer for homeless people caught fire. Fortunately, no one was inside the trailer at the time of the fire, so there were no injuries. The Berlin fire department was able to put out the fire quickly, but the trailer was still significantly damaged. The police investigation is aimed, among other things, at two people who are suspected of setting the fire, as tagesspiegel.de reports.

The wave of arsons in Berlin and the surrounding area casts a shadow on security in the affected districts. Residents and authorities are called upon to counteract further escalation and ensure protection for those affected. The issue of arson must be taken seriously because there is clearly something going on.
