German Group I races: Advertising in Newmarket causes a stir!
Yesterday the German racing clubs in Newmarket, Great Britain, did a lot of work to promote next year's Group I races. The event, which took place on Friday and Saturday, attracted the attention of racing enthusiasts. The presenting racing clubs include prominent names such as the Düsseldorf Racing Club, the Munich Racing Club and the Hamburg Racing Club. The event is entitled “Best of German Racing” and is supported by the new working group of Group I organizers, which will be launched in 2024 to exchange experiences and ideas.
Andrea Höngesberg, one of the organizers and representative of the Düsseldorf racing club, emphasizes how important it is to show up in other major racing nations in order to get in touch with quality starters. There were around 30 confirmations, so trainers and racing managers were available on Saturday in the racetrack's Millennium Box to hold personal discussions. According to Philipp Hein from the Cologne Racing Club, the aim of the initiative is to preserve and further promote the seven existing Group I races.
Strengthen international connections
The importance of international exchange was also highlighted by Sascha Multerer. As Managing Director of BGG, his role is to coordinate the group and ensure that the best connections are strengthened with the leading racing nations, particularly from the UK and Asia. Visitors and participants are not only in direct contact, but also discuss the current challenges and strategies in German racing.
Another focus is on the need to actively present oneself in the international racing scene. Only through targeted advertising and the establishment and expansion of valuable contacts will it be possible to attract future talents and impressive starters for the German races. As is often said: “If you don’t advertise, you die!” – and that also applies to the racing world.
