Christmas bet moves Templin youth coach to tears – 700 euros for a good cause!

On St. Nicholas Day, December 6th, a very special event took place in the Templin city center, which not only touched the hearts of the participants, but also caused a stir. Heiko Kluska, the youth coach of SV Blau-Weiß Röddelin, called for a Christmas bet that took place at the entrance to the Rewe market at 10 a.m. The aim was to convince more than 50 people in Santa Claus costumes to sing “O Tannenbaum” together. And there was a huge crowd: over 78 singers dressed in Christmas costumes gathered to win the bet.

The organizers, including Peter Richter, the Rewe market manager, not only had fun in mind, but also a social purpose. The bet was 500 euros, and because the number of participants exceeded expectations, Peter Richter increased the amount by 200 euros to a total of 700 euros. Kluska was pleased about this generous support, which will flow into projects for children and young people, such as a planned ice hockey trip next year.

Support for social projects

But that wasn't all. Edgar Rockel, managing director of Robeta Holz OHG, brought an additional check for 300 euros, while Klaus Wollatz, chairman of the Röddelin support association, was even able to donate 500 euros. These financial resources provide valuable support for the 20 children and young people between the ages of 8 and 15 who are active in the club and should experience positive leisure activities. “We hope to enable even more great experiences like this for our children,” says Kluska.

The organizers are already planning another highlight for December 20, 2025, where the “Zehdenicker Christmas bet” will take place. The municipal utilities and REWE challenged everyone to gather at least 250 people in Christmas costumes at REWE on Zehdenick Grünstraße. “Oh you happy” should then be sung in unison, and if enough participants come together, 3,000 euros will be donated for family counseling. The organizers are optimistic that this bet will also be successful.

The importance of Christmas campaigns

The Christmas season not only offers an opportunity for happy celebrations, but also for valuable fundraising campaigns. According to findings from the Midland fundraising website, the spirit of the holiday season can help significantly increase donations to a variety of good causes. Supporting communities and involving individuals in such events creates a sense of belonging and increases willingness to donate.

Fundraising events are often a mix of traditional approaches and creative activities. Whether by selling cookies, hosting an “Ugly Sweater Party” or a “Jingle Bell Run” – the options are diverse and customizable. Above all, the local connection and the approach to the community make such events successful and unforgettable.
