Another mystery and the city's history
A look at the city reveals that Templin has undergone a transformation in the last few decades. Formerly known as the “City of Food and Forestry”, it has transformed into a popular “thermal salt spa” since 1971, when it received the title of “state-recognized climatic health resort”. The preservation of the city fortifications, which date back to the 13th century, also shows the citizens' commitment to the historic city center. The important buildings include the parish church of St. Mary Magdalene, which was built in 1749, and the town hall, whose construction was completed between 1746 and 1751.
Preserving culture – the role of the museum
This is another important place for the city's history District local museum, which opened in Prenzlauer Tor in 1957. The city's history is comprehensively documented here - from prehistory and early history to the local labor movement. Since the renovation in 2010, the historical elements of the gate are visible again, and the permanent exhibition offers more than 800 objects that provide insight into the life and development of Templin.
Overall, it is clear that Templin not only has historical buildings to offer, but that the commitment of its citizens is also a pillar for the preservation and understanding of its eventful history.
