Charly Hübner inspires with a reading trip in the Uckermark on July 12th!
The cultural scene in the Uckermark is pulling out all the stops this July. On July 12th at 7 p.m., the popular television commissioner and director Charly Hübner will read in the picturesque ambience of the open-air stage by the lake in Brüssow near Prenzlau. His reading is all about paying homage to the important German writer Uwe Johnson and is entitled “If you knew what I know…”. Hübner describes his work as an attempt to capture the interplay between society, life, politics and inner being so that future generations can develop a feeling for the time. Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater emphasizes that Hübner sees Johnson as the greatest German writer of the 20th century and thereby gives him a special place in literary history.
But that's not all that the region around Prenzlau has to offer: While Hübner's reading begins on July 12th at 7 p.m., just half an hour later the "KellaPopChor" of the Evangelical Church Community of Templin will give a concert in front of the Mary Magdalene Church in Templin at 7:30 p.m. This is another highlight, as the choir has recently made a name for itself and combines buffoneri and gospel sounds. On July 13th, fans of the choir can look forward to another concert at the parish's summer festival in Herzfelde, which begins at 2:30 p.m.
Festivals and readings in the area
The weekend also features the 25th Elbland Festival in Wittenberge, which has the motto “Festival of Lights of Dreams”. Among others, the actress Angelika Milster and the young talents Lara Hüsges and Yiorgo Ioannou from the Lotte Lehmann Academy will be there. Tickets for this spectacle are available at the Wittenberge Tourist Information Office and online at www.elblandfestpiele.de.
For literature lovers who are interested in other events, there are exciting programs in the “Uwe Johnson” literature house. Among other things, you can discover interesting readings there as part of the “22nd Klützer Literatursommer”, such as that of Stefan Hufschmidt, who reads from his novel “Enclave East”. The theme is Berlin after the collapse of the GDR, and tickets are already available for 8 to 10 euros. Other highlights include walks through Johnson's life and works as well as children's activities such as the “Tranquilla Trampeltreu” lecture, which is free for parents and children. More details about these events can be found on the [Literaturhaus Uwe Johnson] website (https://literaturhaus-uwe-johnson.de/programm/list).
With such diverse offerings, the Uckermark becomes a melting pot for culture and literature - a place where the heart beats faster and creativity blossoms. Whether readings, music or festivals, everyone will get their money's worth here!
