All positions on the advisory board are currently vacant because the previous members have left for personal and health reasons. Mayor Hendrik Sommer (independent) encourages all interested citizens to apply so that the important work of the committee can be continued. An interesting detail: it is not a disability prerequisite for membership in the advisory board.

The Advisory Board for People with Disabilities is responsible for the main task of concerns and concerns of people with disabilities at the city council, the city administration as well as various parties and associations. In order to become active, the advisory board needs at least three members who are appointed by the city council. Both residents of Prenzlaus and people from outside are welcome, provided they have a regular connection to the city.

Advisory councils for people with disabilities are not uncommon; They are excellently established in many municipalities and are considered one of the most effective forms of local political interests. As the LAG SEILGHENDEN NRW, such committees play a central role in sensitizing politics and society to the needs of people with disabilities. Public relations work to create a barrier -free environment is very important here.

an example of participation

An example from Bad Oeynhausen shows how advisory boards can be structured: there the advisory board has between seven and eleven voting members who can include both people with disabilities as well as their relatives and supervisors. Working in such a body is an excellent way to reduce barriers and provide inclusion. These advisory boards collect suggestions and experiences of people with disabilities; The voice of those affected has top priority here.

The call to work in Prenzlau is an opportunity to reduce the barriers in the city and actively work on a barrier -free future. So if you have a good hand for the matters, then register and bring in!
