Grimme, Deutschland - At the weekend, the Uckermark turns back into a purple sea of blossoms. The second lavender festival of this year takes place in Grimme, on the outskirts, organized by the couple Joanna and Karol Olszewski from Szczecin. For the guests, this not only means to enjoy the sight of the colorful fields - they can also lend a hand themselves and harvest fresh lavender. The first festival in July already attracted over 2,000 visitors and the response was overwhelming. A colorful program is offered this weekend. Visitors can look forward to delicacies such as lavender ice cream, lavender cakes and various lavender products. That ranges from pretty pillows and fragrance bags to tasty liqueur. "Lavender is just thriving in Brandenburg here," says Olszewski, who has grown Lavendel since 2017. As a garden builder, his wife brings the necessary expertise while he was previously a security inspector.

But the purple plant is not only nice to look at. Lavender, botanical known as Lavandula Angustifolia , is particularly valued for its calming and anxious properties. These effects make it a popular part of aromatherapy and even in the kitchen. Whether in desserts, teas or hearty dishes - lavender is a real all -rounder! Its essential oils, which have anti -inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, can also be found in many skin care products and massage oils.
