A complete success: Templin Seniors' Week inspires with great events!
A brilliant success for the Brandenburg Seniors' Week! The Templin Senior Citizens' Advisory Board draws a consistently positive conclusion and emphasizes how important such events are for the older population. Cornelia Zimmerling, chairwoman of the advisory board, reported a response from participants that could hardly have been better. The various events were not only well attended, they also provided a variety of entertainment and social encounters, which is particularly valuable in old age.
A bowling event in the Templin Bowling Center Hoch 3 particularly stood out, where 24 active seniors hit each other with bowling pins. After the great success, there are already numerous requests for a repeat performance. The open day in the seniors' club in the historic town hall was also a highlight that attracted massive numbers of visitors. Here, interested seniors could find out more about the offerings of the various circles. The club's chairman, Uwe Krell, was pleased to report several inquiries about future events and was also able to welcome a new member to the club's ranks.
Fun excursions and creative activities
Seniors' Week also offered numerous opportunities to take part in various activities. Visitors were able to earn an impressive 202 euros from a kitchen buffet, which underlines the great popularity. Another event that met with great interest was the visit to the Templin Volunteer Fire Department's fire department, where 30 seniors received exciting and practical information from Stefan Hennig and Davin Moews.
Unfortunately, the planned dragon boat trip was canceled due to the bad weather, but this did not dampen the mood. Instead, an exploratory trip with the passenger ship “Navette” was organized on the upper Templin waters. From 3:00 p.m. there was coffee and cake for the participants, accompanied by musical sounds from Detlev Klausch and the opportunity to dance. Thanks to low participation prices, supported by the Hennig shipping company and the Hoch 3 bowling center, many seniors were able to take part in this experience.
Financial support and outlook
The series of events was generously supported by funding from the state of Brandenburg and the city of Templin, which made the implementation of the diverse program items possible in the first place. In addition, the painting campaign at the Sana Hospital Templin received valuable support from the Uckermark district.
Finally, Cornelia Zimmerling expressed her optimism about the future: “All participants benefited from the events and we are looking forward to the next Seniors’ Week.” Such events are not only a wonderful opportunity to meet people, they also promote quality of life and social contacts in old age. It is important that seniors continue to actively participate in the planning and implementation of such events in order to contribute their interests and ideas. Because, as the senior calendar also shows, there are many opportunities to actively spend your free time and make new friends - whether with a cultural program, sports or creative workshops that everyone can help shape. This is exactly what these events make a significant contribution to – they are an integral part of social life in the region.
