Moving film Dear Kurt”: Free special screening in Templin!

An emotional film event is coming up: On June 17th, the special screening of the film “Dear Kurt” will be shown in the Multicultural Center (MKC) Templin. This event is part of the Brandenburg Hospice Week, which has taken place regularly since 2008 and will be celebrated this year from June 16 to 22, 2025. The Uckermärkische Hospizverein e.V. cooperates closely with the organizers and cordially invites everyone interested.

“Dear Kurt” is about the tragic fate of Jana and Kurt, who share custody of their son Kurt after their separation. The behavior of the adult Kurt, who moves to Oranienburg with his girlfriend Lena to be closer to his son, is abruptly changed by a tragic accident. The film touches on themes such as loss and grief, which will also be important to many of those present in the “Orphaned Parents Uckermark” self-help group. The group's contacts will be on site to chat after the film.

Culture of remembrance and social discourse

The Brandenburg Hospice Week places great value on dialogue about topics that are often dealt with in silence: dying, end-of-life care and death. The events offer a good opportunity to exchange ideas with volunteers and find out more about the wide range of hospice and palliative work offers. Visitors have the opportunity to find out more about local outpatient hospice services at open days.

Loud Diaconia Hospice work has been established in Germany since the 1980s and has developed into an indispensable part of the healthcare system. It not only accompanies seriously ill people, but also their relatives, with a clear goal: to enable them to die with dignity.

Entrance and support

Participation in the film screening is free, but donations are requested at the end to benefit the hospice. Visitors are encouraged to take part in social discourse and use the space for emotional topics. The film “Dear Kurt” will serve as a moving medium to promote a deeper examination of loss and grief.

In the coming days, we can expect Hospice Week to bring many people together and stimulate important conversations. The event at the MKC Templin will not only be a cultural highlight, but also an important step towards a more open approach to the issues that affect us all.
