Trainees in Perleberg: This is how the dilapidated footpath and cycle path is being renovated!
There is currently a lot of work being done on the infrastructure in Perleberg: two trainees from the Brandenburg State Road Agency, Sven Wandel and Lennard Schruth, are working on their first construction site. They are renovating a badly damaged sidewalk and cycle path on August-Bebel-Straße, which is approximately 70 meters long. The damage, which was caused primarily by root ingrowth and a sagging embankment, makes traffic safety an urgent matter. Construction manager Arne Lucas clearly formulated the need for action and so the trainees, who work under the guidance of experienced colleagues, are involved in all project phases - from planning to execution.
However, the work, which began last week and is expected to take around two more weeks, depends heavily on the weather conditions. To ensure that the construction site remains safe, half of August-Bebel-Straße is closed during the day and a construction site traffic light regulates traffic. During rush hour during rush hour, long backlogs can cause disruptions. The use of heavy technology ensures that the work progresses quickly and the trainees gain valuable experience in this area.

But it's not just August-Bebel-Straße that is being repaired. Wittenberger Straße in Perleberg has also received a lot of attention recently. According to the latest information, the full closure of Wittenberger Straße will be lifted overnight from Thursday to Friday, on November 22nd at midnight. This means that from this point on the road will be passable again in both directions. However, a one-way street system will not be restored, which should ease traffic as construction work on Wittenberger Straße, which is expected to last until May 30, 2025, progresses.
This construction work, which began at the beginning of the year, includes laying pipes for rain drainage as well as renovating sidewalks, cycle paths and the roadway. During the construction period, the pedestrian and cycle paths will be closed, but alternative paths will be available to direct adjacent traffic.
The commitment and training of young specialists is of great importance for the state company. The company currently employs two trainees at the Quitzow road maintenance department, while two more trainees will begin their apprenticeships from August. These initiatives not only increase road safety in the region, but also lay the foundation for future skilled workers.
