Fire Brigade Legde celebrates 130 years - huge party in the village!
In the charming village of Legde, there was a fantastic atmosphere last weekend, because the fire brigade proudly celebrated its 130th anniversary. From Friday to Sunday, the place turned into a fairground with a colorful program that delighted young and old. The occasion was not only the anniversary, but also a doffest that attracted numerous guests. The highlight was the parade on Saturday at 2 p.m., which was led by the fire brigade chapel Elbe-Havel-Land. Numerous local weirs from the surrounding communities such as Rühstädt, Grube, Bad Wilsnack and Quitzöbel were actively involved, which strengthened the sense of community and demonstrated the connection of the weirs.
like Nordkurier reported, the prominence of the district was also seen. District fire chief Christian Reisinger, the deputy chairman of the district fire brigade association Jörg Michalski and official defense guide Nico Ziegler congratulated the local fire brigade and paid off the active respect for their commitment. The pride of the Legder fire brigade is also evident in its performance figures: in the past five years, the number of members has increased to 22 active firefighters, while 11 members form the age and honor department as well as the youth defense.
ceremony and entertaining activities
The festivities offered a real firework of entertainment. The highlights included a soccer and volleyball tournament and a dance evening with the band "Sweet Harmony". In addition, an impressive water show with music and light, a fire dance, a morning pint and a singing circle provided happy moments. The dance group “Arabeske” from Havelberg in particular left a lasting impression. Mayor Marius wants to praise the commitment of the community, which was strengthened by a successful fundraiser for the celebrations. Official director Torsten Jacob also underlined the importance of social engagement that is rooted in the fire brigade.
The Legder fire brigade is an example of the long tradition and the importance of voluntary fire departments in Germany. These not only offer fire protection, but are also committed to rescue and disaster protection. The first approaches to organized fire fighting were already found in ancient times, as Feuerfakte. Emperor Augustus founded a fire brigade in ancient Rome, the "Vigiles", lying the foundation for the modern fire brigades we know today. Voluntary fire departments are therefore an important institution for security in our communities, also here in Brandenburg.
look into the future
Another remarkable anniversary is imminent: On June 14, 2025, the Versen's volunteer fire brigade will celebrate its 90th anniversary and at the same time look back on a 60-year youth fire brigade. On this day, the firefighters expect numerous guests who can look forward to a colorful program, including demonstrations from everyday fire brigade and culinary offers for the whole family. Such celebrations show how important the fire brigade is not only as a security service, but also as a connecting element within the community that keeps traditions alive and brings the citizens together. Celler Presse has already reported about it.
The fire brigade is so much more than just one service: it symbolizes commitment, community and security. And so it can be hoped that the fire brigade will continue to burn in Legde and elsewhere in the coming years.
