New additions to SpG Prignitz: bowling power from Kyritz!
Something exciting is happening again in the Prignitz bowling scene: The Prignitz sports community (SpG) has signed two new players, Steven Pölchen and Nick Ruppert. This makes Pölchen and Ruppert numbers 4 and 5, who join the team from the rattling town of Kyritz. These decisions come against the background of the closure of the bowling alley in the Kyritzer Kulturhaus, which has been announced for this summer. Despite the strong performances in the 2nd national class and decades of youth work, the bowling club had to look for new opportunities. Nordkurier reports on this development and the challenges that the team has to face.
Pölchen and Ruppert are no strangers to the bowling scene. Both players have already experienced a lot in their youth and have had some success. Ruppert is, among other things, the current individual ranking winner in the 2nd national class and would like to continue his good form from the previous season. He also brings valuable experience from SG Eberswalde. Pölchen, for his part, has qualified for the German Championships several times and has a lot of motivation to help the team. They will initially support the 2nd men's team, which was relegated to the 2nd national division last season.
New challenges and goals
A key impetus for the two newcomers was the exchange with Michael and Christopher, who have been playing at SpG since 2022. This positive feedback motivated Pölchen and Ruppert to join the team and recommend themselves for roles in the Red-Blacks' second division team. In this context, the conversion of the venues is also important. The new bowling alleys are located in the “Kuhstall auf Dahses Erbhof” in Glövzin and in the “Stadt Magdeburg” hotel in Perleberg.
Aside from the news from Prignitz, the national bowling season is also in full swing. The German Bohle Bowling Championships are currently taking place, which began on June 12th, 2025 and will last until June 22nd, 2025 in Husum. This competition attracts bowlers from nine federal states. The Husum sports club, host of the championships, is celebrating 150 years of bowling and 100 years of bowling this year, which gives the events a special setting. Other championships have already taken place this month, including the German Youth Championships, which were held in Kiel on May 30th and June 1st. Sportkegeln DBKV keeps the bowling community up to date on all important events and shows the diversity of bowling.
Pölchen and Ruppert would like to thank the Kyritzer Kegelklub for the past few years and wish the sports fans all the best. While the SpG Prignitz bowlers are now proving themselves in new areas, the bowling scene in Brandenburg remains lively and exciting. The next few weeks promise exciting competitions and the opportunity for new talent to fight for a place in the spotlight. Kegeln Prignitz remains on the pulse of developments and will provide further information about the upcoming competitions and changes in the sport.
