Discover the secret paths of the Middle Ages in Prignitz!

Ostprignitz-Ruppin, Deutschland - On June 12th, an exciting lecture evening of the "Timers Prignitz" series is on the program in the Prignitz district. As the Nordkurier , archaeologist Torsten Dressler with over 25 years of experience will be examined in the region's significant ways of the Middle Ages. The event takes place at 6 p.m., before that there is a tour of the path museum at 4.30 p.m., which will certainly give interesting insights into the historical paths.

The topics of the evening are diverse. Dressler will not only deal with Bohlenwegen and sticks, but also present streets, squares, bridges as well as city walls and gates. In particular, pilgrimage paths are also discussed that were an important part of medieval mobility. Cities such as Perleberg, Pritzwalk, Kyritz, Rheinsberg, Neuruppin and Wusterhausen are brought into focus here. Reports on lost objects in these historical ways should also be presented.

rich history of the region

The Prignitz is not only an interesting place for those interested in history today, but can also look back on an archaeological legacy of over 10,000 years. As can be seen on district-prignitz.de , there are around 3,500 known sites in the region, seven of which are highlighted as central archaeological places (ZAO). These monuments are not only of regional, but also of national importance.

The project to open up these monuments is carried by various partners, including the Brandenburg State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and the Archaeological State Museum. The aim is to use the findings of the past 10,000 years of historiography both archaeologically and touristically. A special “archaeological path” should connect the ZAO together and make local cultural history tangible.

A look at medieval archeology

The medieval archeology, which deals with ground and construction finds from the time of the Middle Ages, supplements our knowledge with aspects that cannot be removed. This discipline has steadily developed since the 1960s and combines different areas, including art history, geography and history, to a comprehensive view of this exciting era.

As on Wikipedia summarized, the activities of ground monument care, especially in Germany, are strongly geared towards medieval objects. In many regions, such as Great Britain and Scandinavia, the archeology of the Middle Ages has been established much earlier than in Germany. These historical analysis methods not only influence an in -depth understanding of the past, but also on the tourist development of current projects, such as in the archaeological Park Seddin, which concretizes the first ideas.

In connection with the upcoming lecture on June 12, it becomes clear how complex the history of the Prignitz is and how much there is to discover. The evening promises not only exciting insights into history, but also a lively dialogue about the relevance and meaning of the historical paths that accompanied people in the Middle Ages.
