LiebigBand rocks the Schiffenberg: an unforgettable open-air experience!

There was a festive atmosphere in Giessen on July 9, 2025, because the LieBigBand gave an open air concert in the inner courtyard of Schiffenberg Monastery as part of the Musical Summer. In brilliant weather, visitors were able to experience a three-hour concert, which opened the concert series with great enthusiasm. Last year the event took place in the congress hall, but the move to Giessen's picturesque local mountain attracted many listeners and created a great atmosphere.

The Musical Summer celebrations began on June 10th and will feature a wide range of musical performances from Friday to Sunday until August 6th. From rock, pop to choral music and even bohemian music, there is something for everyone. In addition to the LieBigBand, which celebrated its 30th anniversary, other bands played such as the Skyline Bigband, which performed jazz, swing and Latin sounds on June 11th. So if you are still looking for a special musical experience, you should make a note of the important dates.

A varied program

The program has a number of highlights, including the Day of the Song on June 18th and the rock opera “The Tower”, which was performed on July 8th. On the same day that the LieBigBand provided an unforgettable experience, the performance “The Bremen Town Musicians” also took place. The events are so diverse that they present both established musicians and newcomers. The city offers an ideal atmosphere for these musical highlights with various venues such as the Kloster-Schiffenberg site and the StadtRaumBühne in the city center.

There are convenient options for getting to Schiffenberg, including a special bus route 6 that runs on June 11th, June 25th and July 16th. Tickets for the paid basilica concerts are available from the tourist information office and at the box office. The full program is on the city's homepage www.giessen.de or available in the form of a booklet in the town hall and the tourist information office.
