Replacement traffic on S1: Important information on restrictions from July 11th!
While the S-Bahn Berlin continues to offer its daily connections in and around the capital, passengers will have to expect a lot of changes in the coming days. Current restrictions affect the line S1, which can not be served in full from Friday, July 11th, from 9:45 p.m. to Monday, July 14th at 1:30 a.m. During this time, some stops towards Oranienburg fall from the Birkenwerder Weg S-Bahn station. The background is necessary maintenance work on the rectifier subcontract as well as track crossings and cable work at the electronic signal box S1 Nord, such as Berlin Live reported.
A replacement traffic was set up for the passengers concerned, which is offered in the form of two new bus lines. The S1X bus line stops at the following stations:
- s Birkenwerder-replacement stop in Clara-Zetkin-Straße
- Church of Birkenwerder - Additional stop in Borgsdorf's main street
- Berliner Chaussee - replacement stop in the Berliner Chaussee
- s Lehnitz - replacement stop at Gutsplatz
- s Oranienburg - replacement stop at the station forecourt
The second bus line, S1a, serves similar stations:
- Birkenwerder-replacement stop in Clara-Zetkin-Straße
- Church of Birkenwerder - Additional stop in Borgsdorf's main street
- Berliner Chaussee - replacement stop in the Berliner Chaussee
- s Borgsdorf - replacement stop at the station forecourt
- s Lehnitz - replacement stop at Gutsplatz
- s Oranienburg - replacement stop at the station forecourt
The Busse S1X and S1A have significantly limited travel times on the weekend days (Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), which ensures additional flexibility.
further restrictions and disorders
However, these restrictions are not the only ones with which commuters and travelers are confronted. Already on Monday, various disorders were recorded in the Berlin S-Bahn, which had a particularly important effect on lines such as S45 and S8. Affected passengers have to prepare for longer waiting times, since among other things, a signal disorder in Schönweide is the cause of the problems. For example, all traffic on the S45 is canceled, while the S8 only runs very limited and runs between Birkenwerder and the Treptower Park, as the Berliner Zeitung reports. In addition, there are restrictions on numerous other lines, such as between Tempelhof and Halensee, where the lines S41 and S42 run every ten minutes. In the meantime, the ring railway traffic between Halensee and Westend is also affected, which is a comprehensive challenge for travelers. For many, it is crucial to remember these changes in good time so that you can get to the destination as carefree as possible.
The next major conversion project and the associated disorders are planned for the future. Not only the S1, but also many other lines will be affected by various construction work. It is therefore worth checking the information on the S-Bahn Berlin website so as not to experience unpleasant surprises.
The situation remains challenging, but the S-Bahn Berlin is working on keeping the impairments for passengers as low as possible. It is recommended to break up early and plan any detours.
