In Potsdam the anticipation of the festive season is in full swing. The Christmas market, known as Potsdam Christmas Magic, offers a lot of hustle and bustle until December 28th. Around 250 lovingly decorated stands stretch across Bassinplatz and Brandenburger Straße. The 13 meter high Christmas tree at the Brandenburg Gate, which is surrounded by a children's carousel, is particularly adorable. In the enchanted atmosphere of the market, a pagoda village on Luisenplatz also attracts visitors, where handicrafts and delicatessen are on offer and a jazz and swing stage invites you to linger.

Diverse Christmas program

The magic of Christmas is not the only highlight in Potsdam. Aside from the festive markets, the Saturday reading will take place on December 27th at 11 a.m. in the city library for children aged 4 and over. And the Potsdam Christmas Circus in the Lustgarten will amaze in the festival tent until January 5, 2026. The performances take place Thursdays to Saturdays at 4 and 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 and 5:30 p.m., with admission starting at 15 euros.

For the little ones, the program also includes a family afternoon with Theo in the Potsdam Museum and the play “The Gingerbread Man” in the Hans Otto Theater. Anyone interested in culture can also visit the ballet “Swan Lake” in the Nikolaisaal on the same day - the classic about Princess Odette starts at 7 p.m.

Other markets such as the Dutch Sinterklaas Market and the Polish Star Market ensure an international flair during the festive period.

There are also special features at the Christmas village at Krongut Bornstedt, which opens on Advent weekends. Here visitors can immerse themselves in a completely different world and let themselves drift through the colorful stalls.

The festival program is rounded off by numerous parties and events, ranging from the after-work event in Pirschheide to the beautiful party in the wash house. The Potsdam winter season offers something for every taste.
