The decision to return to Berlin is not out of the blue and comes in a time of upheaval for the media landscape. Statista declared that the German film production industry is located in a continuous transformation and numerous companies are confronted with challenges. The number of active film production companies has dropped noticeably in recent years. UFA itself is one of the large minutes produced with impressive 49,100 minutes in 2022.

Natalie Clausen emphasizes the importance of the Creative Center Berlin for innovation and networking within the industry. "We would like to thank you for working with Potsdam and Brandenburg politics and business," she also said and emphasized that this decision was not easy.
the legacy of the UFA
The UFA not only decisively shaped the German media landscape, but is also an important pillar in the area of entertainment. While interest in German cinema films has recently decreased, TV production remains a highly popular and established business that should not be underestimated in an international context. The animated film "Overflieger - The Secret of the Great Jewel", for example, turned out to be an export hit, which underlines the versatility of German film production.
The return to Berlin will not only be a change of scenery for UFA. From the first half of 2026, around 130 employees will work at the new location, which could bring a breath of fresh air to the company. While the legacy lives on in Potsdam, the step to Berlin will surely be associated with great expectations and challenges. For Brandenburg, too, it remains to be seen how the situation will develop around the film production facilities.
