In the Barnim district there are signs of change in child day care. Recently the district administration has a Online survey about child day care was launched with the aim of better adapting the care situation for children from crèche age to the needs of families. This survey runs until October 31, 2025 and is aimed at parents with children in daycare, daycare or after-school care.

The anonymous survey takes approximately ten minutes to complete and is entirely online. “We hope for a high level of participation in order to create more tailored child day care options,” says the district. A statistical analysis ensures that no individual data is stored, which ensures the anonymity of the participants. New portal “Kitaplatz-Finder”

Silke Nessing, the district's head of social affairs, highlights the increasing need for child day care and sees the portal as an important help for parents and the administration. It makes it possible to create priority lists and submit applications for favorite care. “The daycare place finder also helps to identify multiple registrations and avoid duplicates,” adds Götz Herrmann, the mayor of Eberswalde.

The portal offers comprehensive detailed profiles of the care facilities and should also be available in other Barnim municipalities. The introduction of the daycare place finder is already being prepared in Wandlitz. “The tool not only brings benefits for parents, but also simplifies the administration’s work,” says Oliver Borchert, Mayor of Wandlitz.
