There is a full closure on the A13 motorway, which affects drivers between the Spreewald triangle and the Calau exit in the direction of Dresden. This is reported by the Lausitzer Rundschau. The closure will begin on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 and is expected to last from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The reason for this is necessary repairs to the roadway, which has been affected by periods of freezing and thawing.
Anyone who thinks that they simply don't have to worry about driving to Dresden should be even more vigilant. Traffic towards Dresden and Berlin will be redirected via Cottbus during this time. The diversion extends over a distance of almost seven kilometers. It is recommended that you drive particularly carefully on this diversion route.
Current traffic situation on the A13
The A13 stretches for a total of 151 kilometers and begins in Kiekebusch before ending in Dresden-Hellerau. This road is not only important for passenger traffic, but also plays an important role for freight traffic, as many trucks travel here. Especially during the holiday season, traffic jams at well-known traffic hotspots, such as the Spreewald triangle or the Duben junction, are not uncommon.
The construction sites on the highway
There are currently some construction sites on the A13 that drivers should take note of. Over a period of up to three months, several sections are affected:
- Radeburg – Thiendorf: bis 14. Februar 2026, jeweils von 00:00 Uhr bis 07:00 Uhr.
- Schönborn – Calau: ab 21. Januar 2026 von 07:30 bis 15:00 Uhr, sowie am 22. Januar von 07:30 bis 15:00 Uhr und am 23. Januar von 07:30 bis 12:00 Uhr.
- Ortrand – Ruhland: ab 21. Januar 2026 bis 31. März 2026, täglich von 13:00 bis 16:00 Uhr.
Construction sites, particularly between Groß Köris and Duben, and between Großräschen and Ruhland, are also mentioned. Some speed limits must be observed here.
The A13 is a central traffic artery that connects Berlin with Dresden and runs through Brandenburg and Saxony. Drivers should not only pay attention to the route closures, but also to the recommended detours and roadworks to avoid unnecessary stress on the journey.
