Long-standing partnership between Märkisches Kreis and Elbe-Elster celebrated!

On July 9, 2025, the time had come again: District Administrator Marco Voge traveled to the Brandenburg partner group Elbe-Elster to celebrate the long-standing partnership with his district administrator Christian Jaschinski. As part of a warm welcome in the Herzberg district administration (Elster), not only the previous collaboration was recognized, but also discussed new projects. This partnership has existed since 1992 and has developed from an exchange about administrative experiences to a diverse network in areas such as sports, culture, youth and tourism. This shows how important such inter -municipal cooperation are in order not only to strengthen economic but also social bonds.

At this meeting, Christian Jaschinski thanked Marco Voge for the trusting cooperation. In addition to the exchange of specialist knowledge, the two circles also benefit from joint events that promote cooperation. A look at the successes of the past few years shows how complex the commitment is: highlights such as the orchestral project of the Märkische Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2022 or the youth camps "CAMPTOGETHER" in 2023 and 2025 have already brought together many young people. Even the cultural exchange does not remain on the route, with exhibitions and artist encounters that expand the horizon and promote understanding for each other.

The future of the partnership

A current project that has great potential for the region is the ecologically sustainable development of the local recreation area Kiebitz, which was visited with Mayor Stephan Bawey. Under the name Wilena, nature is retained here and at the same time the leisure value is significantly increased. Such common projects are not only an advantage for the residents. Tourism should also benefit from these developments, which creates a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Marco Voge announced that in September 2025 he will not run for another term as a district administrator. This could set the course for new impulses in the partnership. The invitation to Christian Jaschinski and his delegation for the 50th anniversary of the Märkische Kreis is a sign of the constant interest in close cooperation, which will also be significant beyond his term. On September 6, 2025, the festive concert of the Märkische Youth Symphony Orchestra will take place in Balve and invites you to a lively exchange again.

The Bavarian state government supports similar inter -municipal cooperation, which underlines the importance of such partnerships. In times of stagnant households and increasing expectations of municipal services, such networking is becoming increasingly essential. As in the Märkischer Kreis, it has been shown that the exchange of best practices, resources and ideas at eye level not only increases the attractiveness of a region, but also makes it future -proof. Whether in Brandenburg or Bavaria - the message is clear: cooperation brings successful results.
