A weekend full of fun: city festival and events in Lusatia!

Next weekend, from June 13th to 15th, 2025, Lausitz will be dominated by a variety of festivities and events. The Cottbus city festival, which can take place again after a two-year break, is particularly in the spotlight. An exciting program is offered around the Pushkin Promenade that will make the hearts of festival visitors beat faster. The Märkische Messenger reports on over 100 catering and sales stands as well as exotic rides such as the Free-Fall Tower, the “Aviator” chain plane and a Ferris wheel, which will provide fun and action.

The Cottbus city festival opens on Friday at 5:00 p.m. Mayor Holger Kelch will give the official starting signal, followed by a colorful program with the children's musical and a performance by the Pepinos. There is also a lot of music on offer: on Saturday the party band NEO entertains, while on Sunday the band KRÄHE ensures a good atmosphere. A big highlight is the open-air party on Sunday evening, which ends with an impressive laser show on the Altmarkt and the stage in Pushkin Park.

A variety of events in the region

It's not just in Cottbus that people celebrate. The German-Polish Health Day will also take place in Guben on Friday and invites you to spend the afternoon in the kindergarten of the Naëmi Wilke Diakonie Hospital. Little explorers can also experience “Lieselotte doesn’t want to swim” at the picture book cinema in the city library. On the same evening, among other things, the citizens' festival is celebrated under the Sachsendorf tent.

Saturday also promises a full program. Guben becomes the center for young families with a children's flea market, while Ernst-Mucke-Platz in Cottbus invites you to a flea market. In Forst, the Volleympics 2025 will attract sports enthusiasts, and the Boxberg Natural & Regional Market will offer fresh products from the region. Another highlight of Saturday is the ballet gala of the Werhun Ballet School in Cottbus, which takes place at the Kammerbühne.

Celebrations for young and old

Sunday takes it up a notch: the citizens' festival continues in Cottbus and the Baltic Sea sports games go into the next round. Families can look forward to a big children's party in the city park, where lots of fun and games await the little guests. In addition, from 10:00 a.m., the castle in Königs Wusterhausen will be a fixed point of contact for exciting program items during the family day.

Numerous culinary delights await visitors - especially on Sunday at the “Cottbus open” event, where BTU students present regional specialties. If you want to travel by public transport, we recommend using the 9 euro ticket, although there are also sufficient bicycle parking spaces.

So there is something for every age group: whether it's the thrill of rides, relaxed flea markets or the culinary highlights - Lausitz will come alive this weekend and invites everyone to enjoy the celebrations!
