Bundes police stop Schleuser in Coschen: Unauthorized entry uncovered!

Thursday morning, in the early hours, the federal police force on the bridge in Coschen carried out an intensive border control. This measure is part of the systematic controls that have been carried out at the German national borders since September 2024 in order to contain unauthorized entry and slumping crime. The federal police discovered a suspected driver of a smuggling vehicle and its passenger, which caused a sensation.

The federal police officers controlled a vehicle coming from Poland, in which a 48-year-old Georgian citizen sat at the wheel. His passenger, a 26-year-old man from Eritrea, had no identification documents. In view of this situation, the driver was temporarily arrested while the passenger was taken into custody. Investigations about the suspicion of unauthorized entry were initiated against both men because they did not have the necessary documents for entry and stay in Germany.

context to increase the controls

The measure in Coschen is in line with the nationwide efforts of the federal government to limit irregular migration. According to a report by Tagesschau , over 22,000 unauthorized entry have been found since the beginning of these systematic border controls. In the same period, 13,786 people had to be rejected or pushed back without papers, and 518 smugglers could be arrested.

Compared to the figures from the previous year, there are significant declines in unauthorized entry. The total number of unauthorized entry for 2024 was at 83,572, significantly less than the 127,549 in 2023. A look at the January number also shows that the entry in January 2025 went back to 5.147, which was positive in comparison to previous years.

The challenges of smuggling crime

But despite these positive trends, the smuggling crime in Germany remains a serious problem. Data of the Federal Police show that a total of 365.891 were registered, which was registered for a special Challenging challenge. Illegal human trafficking and the associated dangers make it necessary to strengthen the border controls and carry out more strictly.

After the police measures in Coschen, both men were immediately rejected to Poland. The arrest and the consequences once again show that the Federal Police will continue to play a central role in the fight against Schluskrimark and the unauthorized entry into Germany in the future.
