Health Campus Seelow: New era of medical care starts!
The Seelow Hospital is faced with an exciting transformation process. According to the AOK Nordost it will be further developed into a health campus in the next four years. The aim is to create a central point of contact for the citizens and thus to optimize medical care in the region.
The new health campus will not only act as a hospital of basic care, but also provide a comprehensive range of medical, therapeutic and nursing services. The planned extensions include physiotherapy, a pharmacy as well as consulting and coordination services. This is intended to link existing inpatient and outpatient structures. Specifically, this means that internal medicine and emergency care are preserved as well as general and trauma surgery. In addition, outpatient surgical interventions are often to be carried out at the Seelow location.

A big step into the future is the establishment of a surveillance unit in which patients can be observed for up to 24 hours without inpatient admission. Together with a short -term care station for temporary care needs, this health campus will offer a comprehensive care concept that responds to the needs of people in the region. Minister of Health Britta Müller emphasizes the need for new concepts for medical care in rural regions in order to meet the challenges through a shortage of skilled workers and demographic change.
The importance of support from state politics and health insurance companies is underlined by District Administrator Gernot Schmidt. In this context, the IGIB - innovative health care in Brandenburg GmbH and the health insurance companies AOK Nordost and IKK Brandenburg and Berlin play a central role in order to optimally use existing resources and to strengthen regional health. Catrin Steiniger from the Brandenburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians emphasizes that reliable financing is crucial for the combination of outpatient and inpatient structures.

The changes in the Seelow Hospital are part of a larger hospital reform that was launched with the hospital provision of improvement law.
