December 24, 2025 brings not only a festive atmosphere, but also a variety of special events in the beautiful city of Prenzlau. The Dominican monastery, which celebrated its 750th anniversary this year, is making a number of changes to its opening hours and cultural events for the holidays. There is a lot to discover and experience here!
The monastery invites you to festive highlights on Boxing Day and Boxing Day. Particularly noteworthy is this Christmas matinée of the Prussian Chamber Orchestra, which will take place on December 26, 2025 in the Refectory. The matinée will be presented in two performances at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and promises to present great works by small masters. The talented Aiko Ogata took over the management. Opening times during public holidays
The city archive and the city library in Prenzlau will remain closed from December 24th, 2025 to January 2nd, 2026. Normally, after the holidays, the library doors are open again as usual: Mondays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The city archives will also open at regular times from January 5, 2026: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Fridays until 12 p.m.
In addition, the Cultural History Museum will remain closed until January 4th, 2026 and will reopen its doors after the Christmas break on January 6th, 2026.

On December 27, 2025 the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt at 7:30 p.m. the guest performance with the entertaining title “Was that already sex?” in the cabaret hall.
