Celebrations in Prenzlau: Footballers secure relegation with 3-1!

In a dramatic playoff, Rot-Weiß Prenzlau secured relegation in the national league. The players and fans stormed onto the field in celebration after the 3-1 win against Schorfheide Joachimsthal, because this success was more than just a game - it was the key to staying in the league. Again Northern Courier Reportedly, Prenzlau also benefited from the defeat of Oranienburg II, who only lost 2-1 to Ahrensfelde in the last minute. This meant that the pressure on Prenzlau was less, but a victory of their own was necessary to save the situation.

The game initially didn't start ideally for Prenzlauer, as Moritz Wille gave the guests from Joachimsthal the lead (0:1). But Max Verhülsdonk equalized shortly before half-time, and coach Christian Rauch demanded more commitment from his players in the dressing room. And the Prenzlau team also showed this commitment after the break: Marcel Blume scored the 2-1, followed by another goal from Luis Hötzmann in stoppage time. This meant that we would stay in the league – a reason to celebrate for everyone involved.

A club with tradition and many facets

But Prenzlau's success cannot be reduced to just one football game. The Pneumant Fürstenwalde e.V. association will celebrate its 76th anniversary in 2025, making it one of the oldest and largest multi-discipline clubs in the Brandenburg State Sports Association. With over 1,332 memberships in more than 23 departments, a wide range of sports are offered here, from football to table tennis to water aerobics. Particularly noteworthy is the voluntary commitment of around 200 members who work as trainers and trainers, as on the Pneumant website is to be experienced.

A special event was the national table tennis championship for seniors, in which 137 athletes from 48 clubs took part. Here the Prenzlauer athletes demonstrated their strength and secured medals in various age groups. Günter Rehwinkel became national champion in the age group over 75. Such sporting successes contribute to the positive external image of the club and the region.

Volunteering: A mainstay of football

The social and economic importance of amateur football is repeatedly highlighted. According to a study, the positive effects of football are enormous. The approximately 24,500 amateur clubs in Germany strengthen the health of the population and ensure important social value creation. The Pneumant Fürstenwalde club is already planning its next steps for the coming weeks and would like to carry the momentum from the successful final game into the next season.
