Brazen boot deposits blackmail: Ultimatum on the Lübbesee!

In the tranquil Ahrensdorf on the Lübbesee, a brazen theft has occurred, which makes the residents listen to. Daniel Voigt, the owner of a blue rowboat of the Dinghi brand, reports of the loss of his beloved vehicle, which he had parked at the berth of the "Kleiner Eichwerder" interest group. The incident is not the first of its kind, because six boats were stolen there last year. Voigt discovered his boat a few days after the theft on a remote bank - it was badly damaged and looked as if it had been neglected. He reacts to the perpetrators with a clear appeal: please report within two weeks and replace the damage of around 500 euros or donate the sum to a non -profit organization. He also hopes for an apology.

A real call to responsible! If nobody reports by June 29, Voigt plans to take legal action and file a complaint. In view of the current theft statistics, the situation could not be more insignificant. The competence center for boat crime announced in 2023 that although the thefts of external border engines have dropped by 10 %, a slight increase in 160 cases was recorded in the sports boats category. However, this has been the second highest value since the start of the surveys, which shows that the situation remains tense.

theft and its consequences

How should you behave when a boat is stolen? Experts advise you to report the theft to the police immediately. A theft display should also be created, which contains all important details. "We recommend also informing the ADAC boat registration so that the building number is blocked in the system," explains a consultant and adds that this step can prevent new registrations. The exchange of information between the police and relevant institutions is essential in order not to leave thefts with impunity.

But something happens: National and international searches have contributed to significantly reducing the number of stolen boats and outboard in Europe in recent years. In 2001 there were still about 10,000 boats registered as stolen, in 2023 it was only 4,000. The reason for this includes successful operations by the Boat crime competence center, which among other things maintains a cooperation agreement with the State Criminal Police Office Baden-Württemberg.

Enlightenment and information

While the investigation in Ahrensdorf intensified, Voigt calls on the population to report information on the investigation of the incident. All information is treated confidentially - all the more because the authorities want to bring light into the dark as soon as possible. Questions remain open: Who are the people who have become unjustified on Voigts Boot? And what can we do to better protect our watercraft in the future?

It is a good feeling to be part of a community that holds together to prevent such incidents. The trends in boating thefts can be seen everywhere, but the next incident could also take place directly in front of our door if we are not vigilant.
