Pearl splendor in Perleberg: church district celebrates Brandenburg Day
Brandenburg Day 2025 will be a really big event, from September 12th to 14th in Perleberg. Under the motto “Participate in Pearl Splendor!” the city will blossom with creativity and community. The Prignitz Evangelical Church District in particular will be actively involved and has already set up exciting programs.
How Northern Courier reports, the church district will set up several “pearl stations” in the city. These stations invite visitors to explore the symbolic meaning of ten beads in different ways. Because pearls not only represent perfection, but are also symbols of the precious things in life. Jesus himself compared the kingdom of heaven to searching for a pearl, a question designed to get guests thinking: “What is the most important thing in your life?” and “What strengthens your courage to face life?”
Participate and help
Anyone who would like to take an active part in this special festival has the opportunity to support the stations as a volunteer. Anyone interested can simply send an email superintendentur@kirchenkreisprignitz.de write or come by the superintendent's office, Kirchplatz 6 in Perleberg, on June 20th at 6 p.m. At this meeting, the “Pearls of Faith” will be presented, which will be part of the church's contribution to Brandenburg Day.
In addition to the activities of the church district, the Brandenburg Day represents a platform on which many actors from the region as well as from Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony-Anhalt come together. The diversity of the events is underlined by choir concerts, initiatives such as the Ekidz community space as well as the social and church pearl in and around the St. Jacobi church in Perleberg kirchenkreis-prignitz.de describes.
A special highlight will be the “Baptismal Pearl” on the banks of the Stepenitz. Here you have the opportunity to talk about baptism and the baptismal blessing. There will even be the chance to be baptized under the leadership of Bishop Christian Stäblein. Those interested can register via the parish office or church district.
Musical moments
Another exciting part of the program is the sing-along campaign “Open Singing for All”, which will be led by Andreas Behrendt and church music director Michael Schulze. Workshops for wind players will take place on June 28th and July 12th, and the main rehearsal on September 6th promises to be a musical experience in a class of its own. The crowning conclusion will be the open air festival service on September 14th on the stage of the Great Market, where the brass players will once again provide a musical highlight.
