Balcony scandal in Perleberg: Man shows Hitler salute and triggers police!

In the quiet city of Perleberg, there was an incident on Sunday evening that the minds broke out. At around 5:45 p.m., a 39-year-old man triggered a police operation in Thomas-Müntzer Strasse. Before the eyes of two young men, 16 and 20 years old, the unknown not only showed the notorious "Hitler salute", but also the "neck cutter gesture". Such gestures are not only offensive today, but also a clear criminal liability. The Prignitz police inspection confirmed that a criminal complaint was admitted for threats and the use of indicators of unconstitutional organizations.

What may have moved the man to comment in this form? In times when right -wing extremists repeatedly emerge from the shadow of society, the question of the responsibility of each individual arises. Constitutional protection reports that the number of violent right-wing extremists in Germany has risen to around 15,300 people. Overall, there were over 50,000 right -wing extremists in 2024, which represents a significant increase. These figures make it clear that the dangers of extremist ideologies are still high.

Interestingly, the incident in Perleberg is not alone. Similarly frightening events have occurred elsewhere. So there recently occurred in Hamburg-Harburg, in which a 72-year-old man threatened passengers with a syringe and also showed the Hitler salute. Such incidents show that the everyday threat from right -wing extremist elements is not limited to one region.

In 2024, 37,835 right -wing extremist crimes were registered across Germany. This corresponds to an increase of 47.4 % compared to the previous year. The brutal attacks that include physical attacks and xenophobic acts of violence reach worrying heights. The increase in assault offenses with xenophobic background, which increased by 4.8 %, is particularly striking. The events in Perleberg are part of a worrying trend that requires our attention more than ever.

What does society look like from this?

The challenges are diverse and require a determined action by the community and the political decision -makers. With all of this, the question of respectful handling of each other and for ways, how we can prevent such incidents in the future remains. The high number of right -wing extremist demonstrations that reached 360 last year shows that there is a need for action not only in the radicals, but also in the social climate.

It is up to all of us not only to close the eyes before these incidents, but also actively act against these currents. It is important to set and show a strong sign against intolerance and violence: there is no place in our city.
