Daycare center Villa Regenbogen” in Velten is being redesigned for 1.1 million euros!
Things are happening in Velten! The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the redesign of the outdoor area of the “Villa Regenbogen” daycare center took place on June 18th. With an investment of around 1.1 million euros, the former school sports area, which measures an impressive 3,800 square meters, will be transformed into an imaginative play area for daycare and after-school children aged 6 to 10. In addition to the children, the ceremony also included Deputy Mayor Jennifer Collin-Feeder, daycare director Mandy Reinhardt and after-school teacher Daniel Hölle, who were all visibly happy about the upcoming changes.
As the Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung reports, the focus of the redesign is on the needs of the children. The new play area will have shady areas and design elements that reflect the daycare logo, consisting of rainbows, clouds and sun. In addition, new play elements are being added, such as a water mud area, a climbing-slide combination and a hexagonal swing. Some existing play equipment, including a trampoline and a nest swing, will be retained.
Financing and construction work
The project is financed via the “Active City Centers II” funding program, with the costs being split between the federal, state and local authorities. The city of Velten is covering a third of the costs, while around 1.3 million euros have been earmarked for the energy-efficient renovation of the Villa Regenbogen daycare center, of which 430,000 euros are subsidies, as the MOZ reports.
The construction work is being carried out by BSB Bärliner Stadtbau GmbH and is divided into two construction phases. This work is expected to be completed by the end of the year. During the construction phase, a separate football field will also be created, which will also be open to the public after daycare opening hours. These comprehensive measures are part of a larger strategy to improve child care in Velten and the surrounding area.
A look at the entire development in Velten
The renovation and expansion of the Villa Regenbogen daycare center are not the only measures being undertaken in Velten. Other important projects concern the Kinderland daycare center, in which 2.8 million euros are being invested to create space for 66, and if necessary up to 80, children. This expansion includes the construction of group rooms and a break room and is scheduled to be completed by mid-October 2020. In addition, the Oase youth leisure center is also being renovated in order to achieve accessibility and lower maintenance costs.
The nationwide focus on daycare expansion underlines the need to create good educational and participation opportunities for all children. As the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth notes, child day care is not only essential for early childhood support, but also for the compatibility of family and work. The federal government has been supporting this with a variety of programs and a total volume of 5.4 billion euros since 2008 to create over 750,000 additional daycare places.
Overall, Velten shows a committed and future-oriented approach. The children's anticipation of the new design options is already noticeable, and involving the children in the planning, for example through children's conferences and project days, ensures that they are not just spectators, but also active participants in shaping their environment.
It will be exciting to see how the projects develop from a single source and what positive effects they will have on the children, parents and the entire community!
