New training center in Oranienburg: fire fighting at the highest level!
In Oranienburg, a new chapter in training for fire and disaster protection has been opened. On Saturday, the official inauguration of the Technik and Training Center (TAZ) took place in Germendorfer Allee, which opened its doors after around two years of construction. The district of Oberhavel invested impressive 20 million euros in the project, which offers a variety of the latest exercise facilities on an area of 21,500 square meters.
District Administrator Alexander Tönnies (SPD) did not miss the opportunity to highlight the importance of the center for the regional volunteer fire brigades, the Technical Relief Agency (THW) and the emergency services. "Here we create optimal conditions for the training of our offspring," says Tönnies. In fact, the taz is used annually by around 650 participants who learn the craft of everyday fire service here.
the latest training opportunities
The taz has a lot to offer: a 26 meter high exercise tower enables training to rescue people and crash protection - an unnecessary undertaking that rarely exists in this form. There is also an electronic fire wall in the basement, where future emergency services can train without water, while a real fire system reaches temperatures up to 1400 degrees with real fire.
A extinguishing agent exercise area enables you to work with extinguishing foam, which is a practical experience that is often missing from other facilities. Traffic training can be carried out on a 60-meter-long asphalt section, which is also equipped with mobile construction site guide. The deep -dug area is very adventurous, which brings a proper excitement into training - there, human rescue training is practiced.
dance the temperatures through the tank car, the training for dangerous goods locations becomes reality. Planned additions such as an overhead line and an S-Bahn rail should further refine and expand the training offer.
insight into the reality of operations
The training offer in taz will not only be based on the fire brigades and the THW. Breathing apparatus wearers and other specialists also have the opportunity to train in a classic instructor area. The modern equipment includes training rooms and an exercise system for respiratory protection equipment, as well as a business game arena for the operations.
For the district of Oberhavel, this is another step in security: 2023 were around 1,800 active firefighters in about 3,300 missions, as did the 250 employees in the emergency services, which handled over 43,000 missions. It cannot be pointed out that early detection of fire hazards and proactive protective measures such as smoke detectors have led to a decline in severe fire events in recent years, as well as upgrading their use techniques.
The future in fire and disaster protection is not only in theory, but above all in practical training- and the technology and training center in Oranienburg is the right place for this. It will be exciting to see how this center will affect the operational readiness of the rescue workers in the coming years.
