U21 European Championship: Germany cheers after 4-2 victory against the Czech Republic!

The U21 national team in Germany celebrated a remarkable triumph in the European Championship in Slovakia. With an impressive 4-2 victory over the Czech Republic, the team qualified prematurely for the quarter-finals. The tournament runs from June 11th to 28th and the German Elf was already able to book important points to its account with this victory. The decisive fight took place in Dunajská Streda, around 50 kilometers south of Bratislava.

The young players under coach Toni di Salvo showed their best side. Di Salvo relied on the same starting eleven as in the first game, which ended with a 3-0 win against Slovenia. Before the game it was clear: a victory was enough to secure the move into the knockout round after England and Slovenia only played 0-0.

a remarkable victory

With this exciting duel, Nick Woltemade provided the necessary fire on the square. A strange moment happened to him in minute 22: he lost his shoe, who accidentally hit the referee. But Woltemade could not be disturbed by that. In the 34th minute he put on Nicolo Tresoldi, who took the lead. Just a few minutes later, in the 41st minute, Paul Nebel increased to 2-0 after another beautiful pass from Woltemade.

Woltemade also shone in the second half. In the 54th minute he headed to 3-0 after a flank from Rocco Reitz. Eric Martel joined this hunt and increased to 4: 0 in the 60th minute. However, the German team then subsided and had to accept two goals, which brought the Czech Republic to 2: 4. Despite this weak phase, Germany brought the lead over time and is now in the quarter -finals. There it could meet Spain or Italy that have also qualified.

a radiant hero: Woltemade

Nick Woltemade, who also scored three goals in the first game against Slovenia, is referred to by many as the outstanding player of the tournament. In the 3-0 win against Slovenia, he was already the match winner and caused a stir with his actions. Woltemade did not have any starting difficulties because he convinced despite later arrival by the Nations League, the numbers speak for themselves: his achievements let his career rise steeply. With the help of VfB Stuttgart, he recently won the trophy and has now been promoted to A international.

For the U21 national team, the group phase ends with a tricky duel against the defending champion England, while the next opponent will be defined in the quarter-finals after the game on Wednesday. The mood in the team is good and the players are motivated to continue to do their best.

This shows once again how important such tournaments are to give young talents the opportunity to prove themselves on the big stage. The spectators can look forward to the other games of the German team, which is determined to give everything and continue to pursue the dream of the title.

Information about other young talents is also available from the A-National team, which is also preparing for the home European Championship in Thuringia. Two U21 players, Brajan Gruda and Rocco Reitz, are currently taking part in the training. Coach Julian Nagelsmann gives young players the chance to draw attention to themselves in the A team and we will certainly hear a lot in the near future.

The U21 national team has definitely shown that it has what it takes to be successful in the European Championship. A nice view of the upcoming games!
