Bike path around BER: Expansion starts! Mobility for cyclists improves!

A popular destination for cyclists and plane spotters will soon shine in new splendor. The bike path around BER Airport, also known as "Airport Runway 3", finally receives the urgently needed attention. At the moment, the path, which is particularly popular with families and dog owners, is not continuous and, above all, has unpaved sections that are particularly problematic when cycling. In particular, the section from LPG-Straße near Rotberg to the Waltersdorfer Allee demands for improvements, such as the Märkische General reported.

With the planned construction work, there will finally be improvements. First of all, there is a review of ammunition residues before the work on this much -used bike path begins. Marius Langas, a passionate cyclist and employee on BER, sees this expansion an important progress that could make it easier for the airport employees to come to work. The construction work could be done in two phases: the first phase until December 2024 and the second from March 2026. During this time, however, restrictions and closures in the affected area must be expected.
