Carnival in Königs Wusterhausen: handover of keys and happy dancing!

The foolish time has officially opened in Königs Wusterhausen! On Tuesday, November 11th, at 11:11 a.m. the time had come: the traditional “storming of the town hall” took place festively on Brunnenplatz. Mayor Michaela Wiezorek had the honor of symbolically handing over the key to the town hall to the newly crowned prince couple, Andre I and Loretta II. A beautiful custom that not only ushers in the carnival season, but also brings the community together.

The event attracted numerous spectators who followed the events with rapt attention. After the coronation, the Prinzengarde demonstrated their skills with an impressive guard march, followed by rousing dances by the Grüne Funken and the Fünkchen, which were met with much applause. A highlight was the prince couple's final waltz, to which the audience happily joined in. It was a truly festive start to the new season!

Tradition and community

The Königs Wusterhausen carnival society, which can now look back on 71 years of history, stands for tradition and conviviality. The society currently has 67 adult members and 30 children who are looking forward to the upcoming festivities together. These take place from the end of November to February and offer a colorful program that offers something for everyone.

  • Männertanzturnier
  • Kinderfasching
  • „Konfetti zum Kaffee“

Entrance tickets have been available at the tourist information center at the train station since November 11th. Here you have to be quick, because the cards are in great demand and often go over the counter quickly!

Cultural diversity and more

While the fools are already celebrating in Königs Wusterhausen, the term "carnival" can also be found in pop culture - for example in the anime series "Karneval", which tells the adventures of the boy Nai and the clever thief Gareki, who join a secret organization to face dangerous opponents. Such stories show the multifaceted world of carnival, where both tradition and modern interpretations have their place. You can find out more about this animated counterpart on MyAnimeList.

Everyone is already looking forward to numerous events coming up in Königs Wusterhausen in the coming months. Be there too and enjoy the crazy time! And remember: celebrating in a community is twice as nice!
