Christmas magic for young and old: markets in Birkholzaue and Schönow!
Advent is fast approaching and the anticipation of festive events is increasing in Brandenburg. Next Saturday, November 29th, 2025, several Christmas markets invite visitors to spend a cozy few hours.
In Birkholzaue, the Christmas market will open on the festival lawn at the community center from 3 p.m. Santa Claus has already announced his arrival and will distribute sweet treats to the children. The little ones also have the opportunity to do crafts and ride a pony. The highlight of this market is likely to be the model railway, which will be a source of amazement. It's Christmas in Schönow too: Here the magic of Advent begins at 2.30 p.m. at two locations. There will be Swedish fires, music and hearty delicacies around the Evangelical Church at Dorfstrasse 15a. An Advent concert by the Schönow Chamber Choir at 4 p.m. and singing Christmas carols together at 6 p.m. are also part of the program.
Different markets, one common feeling
Particularly creative children can make their lantern jars at the Advent market at the new volunteer fire department station, which will be lit up at 4:30 p.m. Knecht Ruprecht and Mrs. Holle are also on site at the Schönower Advent magic. On Sunday, November 30th, the first Advent market will take place in Ladeburg from 2 p.m. in the village meadow. There will also be Christmas sounds and delicious food, and at 4 p.m. the Christmas tree will be lit up to celebrate the day. A torchlight procession at 5:45 p.m. concludes the first Advent festively.
Another highlight awaits visitors at the Christmas market in Börnicke on St. Nicholas Saturday, December 6th from 2 p.m. at the village pond. There is a wide range of food, handmade music and stalls selling homemade goods. These markets are a real feast for the senses not only for locals, but also for everyone who wants to enjoy the pre-Christmas atmosphere.
The big Christmas festival in Bernau
The cozy ambience is underlined by a Mongolian yurt where visitors can warm up with hot tea. If you've got a taste for it, the opening hours of the Christmas market are from Sunday to Thursday between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. By the way: Entry to the market is free, so everyone can enjoy the festive atmosphere.
