Shock weekend in Bernau: Accidents, fires and break-ins shake the peace!

For the Brandenburg region, the weekend was marked by several shocking incidents that kept the police on tenterhooks. On Monday morning there was a rear-end collision on the eastern Berliner Ring (BAB 10), which not only resulted in extensive property damage but also several injuries. A 73-year-old driver drove his Renault into a BMW that had stopped on the hard shoulder. As a result, the Renault driver and two BMW passengers had to be taken to hospitals. The material damage is estimated at around 40,000 euros. The motorway in the direction of Frankfurt (Oder) was completely closed for around an hour while rescue workers were on duty. These details were reported by Bernau Live.

But that wasn't the only incident that attracted attention. On Saturday afternoon, a 21-year-old motorcyclist had a serious accident on the L 291 between Liepe and Eberswalde. The young man left the road in a right-hand bend for unknown reasons and crashed into a guardrail. He had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries. While the police began investigating the cause of the accident, the route was completely closed for rescue and recovery work.

Burglaries and fires

The police also had to contend with burglaries. In an allotment garden on Klosterfelder Weg in Bernau, unknown persons stole a drilling machine from a gazebo. The property damage is estimated at around 200 euros and the criminal police have already started an investigation. Such incidents make citizens suspicious and show that community safety is often at risk.

Not only were the burglars active, crooks playing with fire also caused a stir in the city. The fire brigade and police had to move out due to burning waste paper bins on Börnicker Chaussee. Three waste paper bins burned at two different locations. The fire brigade was able to quickly extinguish the flames, while the police are investigating whether property was damaged by setting it on fire and checking whether there was an intentional act.

Traffic accidents and calls for witnesses

Another serious traffic accident recently occurred on the L 100 between Klosterfelde and Zerpenschleuse. A van with a trailer collided with a car while overtaking. The car veered off the road to the left and hit a tree, while the van overturned. In this case, there were three slightly injured people - including the drivers of both vehicles and a passenger in the van. Here, too, the L 100 was completely closed for around four hours to give space for rescue and recovery measures.

There is another call for help regarding a robbery offense in Ahrensfelde. On May 13, 2024, perpetrators stole several high-quality deodorants from a store and then fled. A witness who tried to confront the perpetrators was slightly injured. The police are asking for information on 03338 3610 to prevent further damage.

Overall, the weekend in Brandenburg was marked by serious incidents that resulted in both injuries and concerns about the security situation. The authorities are called upon to act quickly and efficiently - and we are all called upon to help solve crimes.
