From June 13 to 15, 2025, everything revolves around the traditional Hussite Festival, which will also attract numerous visitors this year. Even if the weather can be unpredictable during this time, the mood is certainly splendid when the streets fill up with celebrating ones.
The Bernau cultural office has put together a colorful program that has something ready for every taste. The festival begins on Friday, June 13th, at 4 p.m. with an official opening at the Steintor, in which the Bernau brigants and foreign friends show their skills. An impressive program with medieval performances is offered in the city park.

A very special delicacy awaits the music lovers on Friday evening: from 7:30 p.m., a film music concert with the Federal Police Orchestra and some vocal soloists will take place on the market square. Famous pieces such as the Star Wars Medley and title from "Beyond Africa" and "Skyfall" are played.
Friday ends with an atmospheric torch parade at 10:30 p.m., which leads from the city park to the fireworks at the Steingor. Saturday, June 14th, the big parade will then be opened at 11 a.m., in which around 1,600 players will take part. The festive parade is the highlight of the weekend for many.

The art market in the city center, which will present numerous creative minds on Saturday and Sunday, will also be particularly exciting. Numerous restaurants on Jahnstrasse take care of the physical well-being, while the market square serves as a music café and resting point during the festival. In the city park, the medieval hustle and bustle will continue on all three days, where the Bernau brigants, jugglers and acrobats display their skills.- Opening times of the festival:

- Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Especially for the little visitors, the hype and the diverse children's offers are also a welcome change. The festival ends on Sunday with the impressive "Battle of Bernau" from 5 p.m., which is not only spectacular, but also recognizes the tradition of the festival. After all, the Hussite Festival originated in 1492 when the Hussites could not conquer Bernau. This tradition has been celebrated since then, plus new highlights in every edition of the festival.
The event attracts around 20,000 people every year and is one of the most popular medieval festivals in the region. The good accessibility by public transport, car and bicycle as well as the connection to the A 11 motorway and the S-Bahn connection to Berlin makes it easy to be part of this unique experience. It can already be seen that the Hussite Festival will be a complete success again this year.
